Marie's story

Having gained an undergraduate degree in Anthropology in Montreal, Canada Marie came to LJMU to study for a masters in Forensic Anthropology.

I wanted to come to England to study for my Masters both as it was somewhere I wanted to visit and because I would be able to do my course in one year. Not many places offer my programme in the UK and the people I talked to at John Moores were really helpful so I decided to apply.

I really like the University teaching team here, they put you at ease and really do help you. If you ever struggle with anything or need more information you can always drop by their offices or get an appointment with them. They never say no. It’s also really good that they don’t treat you like a student any more so you get used to working alongside experts as you will do when you are in employment.

The modules on the course are great. I really enjoyed the court examination module where we played the role of expert witnesses. We were also lucky enough to spend a week excavating at and handling human remains at Poulton.

Masters study has been a great experience for me. John Moores is such a good university and Liverpool is a beautiful city with lots of things to do. It has been intense and interesting and I’ve learned a great deal.
