Learn more about the Networking and Distributed Systems

The Networking and Distributed Systems Group conducts internetworking research.

More specifically, the Networking and Distributed Systems Group focuses on building systems and frameworks for both networked appliance solutions and services. Due to the quality research the Group undertakes, members of the Networking and Distributed Systems Group have established an international reputation in the following research areas:

  • Mobile/wireless networks and systems
  • Distributed and multimedia systems
  • Cloud computing
  • Critical infrastructure systems
  • Green computing
  • Sensor networks and applications
  • Communication protocols
  • Network management
  • Home networking and entertainment
  • Ubiquitous computing
  • Biofeedback processing and control

Currently, the Networking and Distributed Systems Group is working on Wi-5 – a €2.1 million H2020 funded project. As part of Wi-5, researchers are developing smart solutions to improve connectivity for Wi-Fi services. The project will be completed in 2018 and should significantly boost the efficiency and access of Wi-Fi services.

Collaborations are important to the Networking and Distributed Systems Group work. Consequently, researchers from the Group have formed national and international partnerships. For example, the Wi-5 project involves partners in the Netherlands, Spain and Turkey.
