  6. Alex Brooker

    Alex Brooker is an LJMU alumni and Honorary Fellow. He is a role model and inspiration for people of all ages and backgrounds, but particularly for those with disabilities, as he himself was born with hand, arm and leg disabilities. He has attained huge success as a journalist and is renowned as a writer and television presenter.

  7. Nisha Katona MBE

    Our sixth Chancellor and our first alumni Chancellor, Nisha Katona MBE, is an ambassador, advocate and role model for our students and staff. After studying law at LJMU, she went on to work as a Barrister for nearly 20 years before setting up her own business, Mowgli, one of the fastest growing restaurant movements in the country.

  8. Dr Matteo Borrini

    Matteo could be described as LJMU’s very own Indiana Jones. A principal lecturer in forensic anthropology, he is a charismatic academic with an unconventional approach to scientific inquiry in both forensic cases and life’s mysteries, with a penchant for holy relics and intrigue for ancient rituals, legends and even a spot of magic.

    Double LJMU graduate Dennis creates incredible immersive experiences in the Liverpool City Region through his company Focal Studios. Combining his passion and interest for technology with art, his company maps out buildings and famous landmarks that can then be used as the canvas for magical, visual experiences that bring stories to life like you’ve never seen before.

  10. Phil Bakstad

    Phil has worked at LJMU for over 16 years. He’s currently the Student Inclusion Lead within the Student Advice and Wellbeing Team and has recently started a new role as Diversity and Inclusion Associate Dean for Professional Services. Since 2010, Phil has also led on organising and representing LJMU at the annual Liverpool Pride March.
