Graduation ceremony

Students and guests with disabilities

Information for attendees with access and auditory requirements

Seating is not allocated and guests with specific mobility issues are advised to arrive at the Cathedral promptly to ensure they acquire an appropriate seat.

There are steps to enter the cathedral therefore, if you require use of the lift you must use the disabled entrance which is to the left of the main entrance.

The Cathedral is also equipped with a hearing loop.

Student access to the graduation platform, where awards are conferred, is via a ramp. If you have a disability that would make access to the platform difficult, please let us know in advance so that we can make the appropriate arrangements.

There are a very limited number of disabled car parking spaces at the Cathedral, available on a first come first served basis and accessed by Upper Parliament Street entrance. For further information on alternative parking venues, see our car parking page.

If either you or your guests have any access requirements that require specific assistance or prior organisation then please complete the disability section of the online graduation attendance form, or alternatively contact LJMU at We will then contact you no later than two weeks prior to your ceremony to discuss your requirements further.
