Student internship - Student Advice and Wellbeing

Project title: “Using animation to expand the reach of our proactive mental health and wellbeing workshops to increase student resilience and aid retention”

The internship will be for 50 days (350 hours) and will run from Wednesday 19th June – Wednesday 28th August.

Payment will be £10.37 per hour (this includes a payment in lieu of holiday)

There is a compulsory induction on 10th June which the successful intern must attend.

This internship is only open to current LJMU students. Undergraduate and PGT students graduating Summer 2019 will also be eligible to apply.

Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK and will need to have a National Insurance number.  Applicants from outside the UK and EU/EEA must have a valid visa which allows them to work.

Preferably the Intern would be a Graphic Design/Screen School/Computer Games development/Media student who has experience of using animation software.

Project background

The Student Engagement Team, part of Student Advice and Wellbeing is seeking a proactive current LJMU student to work collaboratively with the Student Engagement Team to help us to expand the reach of our range of our workshops and self-help materials.

The intern would be tasked with using animation software such as ‘Go Animate’ (provided by Student Advice and Wellbeing) to convert our existing workshops into high quality, easily-accessible animations which are engaging to our diverse student population. This will allow LJMU to offer students innovative, bespoke, self-help material that is sector-leading and more engaging than standard self-help in the form of webpages, leaflets etc.

This project aims to improve student resilience, resulting in a positive impact on the wellbeing of our student population.

The intern will be responsible for leading on the technological aspects of the project converting workshop/self-help resources provided by the Student Engagement Team into a range of formats including Animation shorts.

The intern will be supervised and supported by the Student Engagement Manager and Student Engagement Officers throughout the project.

Skills/experience

  • Demonstrable IT skills and experience of using animate software is essential. 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
