In addition to the traditional PhD route the Liverpool Business School offers a Doctor of Business Administration which is specifically tailored for the requirements of businesses. A DBA is the highest-level academic business qualification available. Within the Liverpool Business School the DBA is a boutique programme which enables practitioners working in business and management to extend their own learning and conduct research on a doctoral level on a part-time basis. It is aimed at senior professionals, executives as well as consultants who would like to develop their critical knowledge and skills for a significant career progression. The DBA requires candidates to conduct a substantial piece of independent research into business issues while being supported by regular workshops and 1:1 supervision of established academics in the candidate’s research area.
Fiona Armstrong-Gibbs is Director of the Baltic Creative, Senior Lecturer in Fashion and a current DBA candidate. She will talk about her research, but also about her experiences during her studies and how the DBA has an impact on her professional and personal life.
