Summer University

A fantastic way to find out what life at university is really like, we invite Year 12 students to spend a few days studying on one of our courses, stay in student accommodation and meet current students to get the inside track on student life. Past subjects on offer have included architecture, engineering, policing studies, law, sports development and health and social care.

LJMU also hosts a Summer University specifically for Northern Ireland students, coinciding with the University Open Day in June.

Student shadowing

The student shadowing scheme offers the opportunity for your students to get first-hand experience of what university life is like from our current student advocates.

A day shadowing an LJMU student will include attending lectures/seminars/workshops and tours of the campus and accommodation. It’s a great opportunity for your pupils to ask questions about going into higher education and to find out what it’s like to study a particular subject at LJMU.

Days run between 8am until 5pm in a range of subjects during certain times of the year.

Coming to a place near you

Every year LJMU outreach staff attend many HE fairs across the country. We inform and advise potential students of the benefits of studying at LJMU and the range and diversity of the courses available. We also attend school- and college-based HE fairs.

LJMU will be at the events listed in the schedule.

In addition, we can deliver presentations about the LJMU experience in various regions during specified times of the year.

In addition to these events outreach staff can deliver presentations about the LJMU experience whilst visiting your region of the UK. In addition to the above dates, the team currently has designated weeks when available to deliver talks in Northern Ireland Schools and Colleges and has specific events for Northern Ireland students and teachers including the Applicant Day in Belfast, Summer University and Teacher Event.

If you would like an LJMU representative to attend your school/college for an event or presentation, please get in touch.
