For many students, deciding what subject to pursue can be a dilemma. Delivered in-school/college by a current course lecturer or student, this session provides valuable information on what is involved in studying specific courses, including information on entry requirements and details on teaching and learning at university level.

Students are given the chance to gain further insight into a subject of their choice prior to the application stage. Delivered by engaging academic staff, students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of interactive activities, lectures and Q&A sessions. A range of subject conferences from across our 120+ undergraduate programmes will be available on an annual basis.
A fantastic way to find out what life at university is really like, we invite Year 12 students to spend a few days studying on one of our courses, stay in student accommodation and meet current students to get the inside track on student life. Past subjects on offer have included architecture, engineering, policing studies, law, sports development and health and social care.
LJMU also hosts a Summer University specifically for Northern Ireland students, coinciding with the University Open Day in June.

The student shadowing scheme offers the opportunity for your students to get first-hand experience of what university life is like from our current student advocates.
A day shadowing an LJMU student will include attending lectures/seminars/workshops and tours of the campus and accommodation. It’s a great opportunity for your pupils to ask questions about going into higher education and to find out what it’s like to study a particular subject at LJMU.
Days run between 8am until 5pm in a range of subjects during certain times of the year.
