The Summer Universities at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) are a fantastic way to find out what life at university is really like. The whole programme is free of charge to students in Years 12/13 and all we ask is that you fund your own way to and from Liverpool.

You will spend three days and two nights working alongside our academic staff and current students. By staying in real student accommodation you will get a feeling for what it is like to live away from home. If you are from outside of Liverpool, you will have the option of a city-tour, taking in the sights and sounds of our amazing city. In addition everybody will go out each night for food in the centre of Liverpool and afterwards will take part in a range of evening activities to keep you entertained and enable you to meet new people and make friends.

The daytime academic sessions are designed to give you a real taste of what it would be like to study at LJMU and help you to decide which course is right for you!

This designed based programme will give you a first-hand experience in some of the creative activities that we develop with our students here in our RIBA award winning Art & Design building. As a participant, you will be engaging conceptual thinking and applying interpretative skills to devise a working brief; this will then inform a wide range of working techniques. You will be expected to explore imaginative design ideas and test these through sketching, drawing, model-making, photography and sun studies in our dedicated facility, to name a few. This work will be carried under the guidance and support from our dedicated staff in our design studios.

The programme will ultimately provide you with an invaluable experience into the world of architectural design and practice.
