Timetable guidance for students

• Induction Week Timetables will be released on the Monday before the start of welcome week, showing your schedule of learning and teaching induction activities for the week commencing 18 September.
• General Programme Timetables will be released the Monday before the start of welcome week, showing all the scheduled sessions for the programme from the first week of teaching for the rest of the year.
• Personalised Timetables (where available) will start to be released the following week, during welcome week. Personalised Timetables are specific to each individual student – you will need to be fully registered on your programme and modules to view personalised timetable.

You can find all our timetables on our Timetables webpages and also in My LJMU, or you can download the My LJMU app.

Your personalised timetable will currently be blank until this starts to be populated during welcome week so do not worry if your timetable is blank until then, or even during the start of that week.

You also need to be fully registered for all your modules - please note it can take up to 24 hours for timetables to be updated after your module registration has been processed. This also applies to any changes to module registrations.

If your timetable is still blank at the end of welcome week and you have allowed 24 hours for any changes to be processed, please contact timetabling.

Whilst we make every effort not to make changes, sometimes it unavoidable, for example because a room or building needs urgent maintenance work, or because a tutor is not available at a specific time, or your group needs to access a specific room that is only available at certain times. We recommend you check your online timetable regularly, especially in the first couple of weeks of teaching, or the start of each semester, to make sure you are referring to the most up to date version.

Web Timetables show programme and module information – you can use the filters to find your programme. You need to know which school you are studying in, the course title and your level of study. This information should be on your offer letter from the university. You can find more information on using the search tools on our Help with searching the general programme timetables webpage, including some explanations of the programme codes and levels of study.

A General Programme Timetable is not personalised and will show every group on every module on the programme – this is why knowing which modules you are taking and what group you are part of is important. Once you are here, your tutor will be able to tell you which group you are part of and you can then look under the module timetable and see your group.

You need to be fully registered for your programme and all modules to access your personal timetable and they are published during welcome week September. You can access them from our Timetables webpages and also in My LJMU, or you can download the My LJMU app to your mobile device.

Your personal timetable is specific to you and will contain only the modules and groups that you are registered for.

You can download this to calendars such as Google or Outlook, but remember to check back here, or on My LJMU regularly for any changes and updates.

To sync these events directly to your LJMU Outlook calendar please use My Calendar or, in the navigation bar, click the download icon, which will expand the options.

To import your timetable in to an alternative calendar, click the 'Copy URL' button and follow the WebCal import instructions provided by your alternative calendar's provider.

You require a valid LJMU account to sign in to view your personal timetable. My Timetable uses Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) for authentication. Signing in to My Timetable will require your username: username@ljmu.ac.uk and your password.

If you are able to sign in to other ADFS authenticated services such as Office 365 and Canvas and not My Timetable, please contact us via the Library.

If you do not have a LJMU username, you are unsure of the password, or it has expired, please use the My Account pages to activate your account or reset your password.

You also need to have either enrolled or completed online registration.

Each teaching sessions contains the time, building and room location and duration of the session so you know when and where to attend. You can find more information on understanding the timetable information including the building codes on our School, Programme and level codes on timetables webpage. The type of session is also identified, for example IT Session, Lecture, Seminar or Online. Online sessions can be accessed via CANVAS.

The following Schools and Programmes are not currently providing personal timetables; you can still use the General Programme timetables for these courses, and your school may provide additional information to you directly.

The following modules are not currently included on personal timetables; you can still use the Personal Timetables for the rest of your course and remember to check the General.

Programme timetables for these modules your school may provide additional information to you directly.

If you think there are teaching activities missing from my timetable, e.g. lectures, practicals seminars, remember Personalised Timetables will only show teaching sessions that you are allocated to. If you feel you should be allocated to more sessions, you should inform your Module or Programme Leader who can inform the Timetabling team.

Please also check you are enrolled or have completed online registration.

If this is the case, then you should contact your Module or Programme Leader and alert them immediately.

You can find this information in My LJMU - select the 'See my Tutor' option.

It may be possible to change groups if you are on a course with teaching organised into groups which run at different times for the same activity. In order to make a change the following conditions must be met:

• There is a valid reason for the change
• There is space for you in your preferred group
• The change must be permanent
• You have been given permission by the module leader

You should then complete the change request form and the Timetabling Team will process your request if permission is in place. You will be notified of receipt via email, and when the change request is complete it will be confirmed by an email and will also appear on your personalised timetable. Please note this can take 2-3 working days to be actioned.

You cannot do this via the timetabling process. You can request changes to your optional modules using My Modules. Please note the deadline for any changes needs to be complete by the second week of the module's teaching delivery, and it can take 24 hours for this change to appear on your timetable after it is approved and processed.
