Modules for the forthcoming academic year
This catalogue lists modules suitable for students coming to LJMU for either a single semester or a full academic year. This information covers semester 1 and semester 2 of the next academic year. Yearlong modules listed here are only available for students visiting for an entire academic year.
LJMU semesters run from late September to mid-January (semester 1) and mid-January to mid-May (semester 2).
Most modules listed here are 20 LJMU credits (10 ECTS credits or 5 US credit hours) – three 20 modules should be studied in a single semester.

LJMU divides its modules into 4 levels:
- Level 4 is the first year of university – these modules are introductory and would not normally be appropriate for incoming students with previous experience in the subject.
- Level 5 are second year modules – these would be suitable for incoming exchange students on undergraduate degrees
- Level 6 are final year degree modules which would be suitable for experienced incoming exchange students
- Level 7 modules are Masters level – these would not normally be appropriate for incoming bachelors students
