UK Funding

There are many different funders for your research, from government funded research councils through to charitable trusts. Before commencing an application it is important that you familiarise yourself with the priorities of the funder and your eligibility for a particular scheme. Take some time to understand the main funders by exploring the links below.

Research funding is awarded on a competitive basis, usually using independent peer review. Funders look to fund novel, excellent and innovative research. LJMU has a success rate of 30% with research councils which is in line with published success rates across all universities. To maximise your chances it takes time, careful planning and preparation. If you choose to progress with an application always read the guidance notes and contact RIS in good time.
