Web content style guide

We have a legal obligation to provide digital content that is accessible to everyone.

‘Accessibility’ is an approach that starts at the concept of creating material for the web. If you are a student or staff member, you have a vital part to play in delivering accessible content.

Guidance for creating and publishing web content

This guide discusses the LJMU website content requirements for:

  • style
  • layout
  • formatting
  • spelling and grammar conventions

The guide is arranged in alphabetical order. This is a long guide, and we recommend that you familiarise yourself with the content. We expect you to dip in and out of this guide to help you develop your content.

The Web content style guide is managed by the Web Content Team. Internet and accessibility standards are continually developing, so this guide is a work in progress. We recommend that you return regularly to this guide to keep your knowledge up-to-date.

If you have a suggestion or question about the style guide, please contact the Web Content Team via LJMU Assist.

Tools, assets and resources

The Web content tips and support page has a range of tools, templates and assets to help you create user-centric content. This includes videos and webpages that demonstrate the different experiences of different users.

We provide a Publishers checklist for Sitecore editors to quality control their webpages before they publish. This is also a useful resource for website contributors to understand the decisions that Editors must follow before they allow a page to be published.

We update the Tips and support page and the Publishers checklist in line with developing the website, so please check them regularly to keep up to date.
