Dementia

Dementia is a term used to describe a range of progressive neurological disorders.

LJMU has been involved in the world of dementia care for many years and is an active member of the Liverpool Dementia Action Alliance.

There has been a whole host of research and projects, which LJMU has been a part of, including:

  • Innovate Dementia – a European Dementia Project, using a ‘living lab’ approach to support people to ‘Live well with dementia’
  • Partnership with Mersey Care NHS Trust
  • Research involving people living with dementia - staff and students from the School of Nursing and Allied Health and the School of Art and Design
  • Teaching about dementia in schools
  • The House of Memories app developed in partnership with Liverpool Museums

At LJMU, we have aspirations of becoming a ‘Dementia Friendly University’, and to build on the fantastic work done in the past by our staff and students.
