Suicidal thoughts and self-harm

The experience of suicidal thoughts and the urge to self-harm can be common when feeling distressed, and feature in many mental health conditions outlined on the main Wellbeing Hub page. 

If you notice that you are experiencing suicidal thoughts, then don’t suffer in silence. 

Help is available, so please reach out and talk to others.

Call Samaritans any time or day on 116 123 or Text SHOUT to 85258.

If you prefer you can write your thoughts down and email them to jo@samaritans.org - response time is 24 hours.

If you feel you can no longer keep yourself safe then take yourself to the local A&E or call 999.

Togetherall offers an online easily accessible platform to anonymously reach out to others via forums and access a range of self-help courses such as managing self-harm. 

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

Staff can use the Vivup EAP service to speak to a trained counsellor 24/7, 365 days a year. To access the support line, call 0330 380 0658 and mention you are LJMU staff or visit the website.
