Interviews

The main goal of the interview is to establish information on the candidate’s capability to successfully perform the duties of the role and ensure the best person is hired.

LJMU supports the use of competency-based or behavioural interviews, to best assess candidates’ skills, previous experience and successes in the required areas. These interviews may contain some questions relating to technical knowledge if required. Interviews that focus solely on knowledge should be avoided, as this allows candidates to provide textbook answers that they may have researched rather than provide evidence that this is something that they have working knowledge of. If a large number of technical questions are required, it might be more appropriate to hold a 2-stage interview process instead, first holding a technical interview, with those candidates demonstrating a sufficient knowledge of the subject area attending a second competency-based/behavioural interview.

There are various things to arrange to ensure that the interview process runs smoothly and gives you the best chance of making an appointment.
