  • This document provides a brief introduction to the computing facilities available at LJMU for new staff and is intended to be used in conjunction with an induction session.

Off-Campus - Best Practice and FAQs

  • The Off Campus Applications Service lets you access a wide range of applications on the LJMU network whilst away from the University or from non-University devices, allowing you to work from anywhere with an internet connection. 

Recovering Overwritten or Deleted Files

  • IT Services have introduced this new service which gives users the ability to recover their own files and folders when they have been recently overwritten or deleted.


  • The University telephony system Mitel includes a helpful app that you can install on your mobile device.  A number of Training Videos are available on YouTube to help you install and use the app on your device. 
  • Please note that these are generic videos – not LJMU specific. Some features may not be available through the mobile app (e.g. Calendar integration)

Training Guides for Popular Software

We have a selection of downloadable training packs to help you learn about popular software packages from Microsoft and Adobe. Several levels of training are available for most of these.  Simply click on the link below for the software you want to learn about and you will be able to download a zip file containing the training materials for the level you choose. You can then extract the files to a location of your choice.

Please note that some of the files are large (up to 100Mb), so may take a while to download on a slow connection.
