Liverpool Biennial

Liverpool festival of contemporary art

Liverpool Biennial is a free festival of contemporary art, founded in 1998. Events and exhibitions are held over a 14-week period across a range of venues, from museums and galleries to empty buildings.

This collection was deposited in 2014 and contains promotional material, such as posters, leaflets and flyers, along with press cuttings, correspondence, photographs of exhibitions, proposals for artworks and much more from 1999 onwards.

The Liverpool Biennial archive has been used to support teaching and learning in Graphic Design and Illustration and History of Art. It has also featured in a number of our exhibitions, including LJMU Light Night events.

This collection is in the process of being catalogued. Please contact the LJMU Archivist for more information.

Collaborative post

In 2015 a collaborative post between Liverpool Biennial and Liverpool John Moores University was created to support research in curating exhibitions, along with offering postgraduate programmes. The Exhibition Research Lab at LJMU also has its own programme, as well as involvement in Liverpool Biennial.
