Jane Hughes' The Way It Is archive is of student life in four buildings, which were used by the LJMU School of Art and Design prior to the School's relocation to the John Lennon Art and Design Building.

The archive was made by an LJMU Fine Art graduate, Jane Hughes. It consists of approximately:

• 95 drawings
• 17,000 words
• Four A3 sketchbooks 
• Three scrolled drawings
