The Organisational Development team offer a wide range of interventions, including open and bespoke workshops, team building and development, one to one guidance and coaching, guidance on appraisal and related support systems. Support is provided for all groups of staff.
LinkedIn Learning for staff
LinkedIn Learning is an online platform available to all LJMU staff to support your personal and career development. Staff have free access to LinkedIn's digital library of more than 16,000 courses. Staff can register with LinkedIn Learning to discover their wide range of technical, business, software and creative topics.
Diversity and Inclusion
The Diversity and Inclusion Team are committed to ensuring an inclusive and equitable environment for both staff and students across the University. They work proactively within the University community to embed equality, diversity, and inclusivity practices, offering events, workshops, networks, and conferences to embed a culture of belonging for everyone.
LJMU Staff Wellbeing Hub
The university is committed to providing a holistic package of services and resources to support your wellbeing. On the Wellbeing Hub, you will find a range of internal and external support, guidance, self-help literature, advice and tips to help you look after your mental health and wellbeing.
Safety, Health and Environment Department
The Safety, Health and Environment Department provide training courses for LJMU staff and students on a wide range of topics, including first aid, risk assessment, fire safety, manual handling. The team can also provide direct advice and guidance.
Teaching and Learning Academy
The Teaching and Learning Academy (TLA) support the development of academic practice, champion learning technology, encourage exchange of ideas across the LJMU community, and help the University to celebrate excellence in teaching and learning.
Learning Technology at LJMU
LJMU have a number of resources to help you get started with Learning Technology, including guidance on tools such as Canvas and Panopto, to provide the best possible academic and digital experience for LJMU staff and students.
The Doctoral Academy
The Doctoral Academy is here to support MPhil and PhD students and their supervisors with all aspects of the postgraduate research (PGR) journey. As well as an extensive training programme to help PGRs enhance their research and transferable skills, the Doctoral Academy also provides resources and training to support staff with the admission, supervision and examination of PGRs.
Research and Innovation Services (RIS)
RIS provide an integrated, professional support service for all aspects of Research and Knowledge Exchange activity, offering practical assistance and expert guidance to help the LJMU academic community reach its full potential.
Researchers can undertake training in research ethics, impact, public engagement, and innovation.
To learn how to get involved with a Knowledge Transfer Partnership join a drop-in, or visit a GaP Clinic for one-to-one help with setting up research projects on the GaP System. RIS staff also provide grant application advice as part of the ACTivator Programme.
Researcher Engagement team within Library Services
The Researcher Engagement team provides expertise, resources and services to LJMU research students and staff. LJMU Library is committed to helping research students and staff succeed and develop their research skills, delivering a range of workshops and professional events dedicated to researchers, including sessions on publishing, metrics, data management and the popular LJMU Research Cafés.
Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers
The Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers is an agreement between stakeholders to improve the research environment and employment support for researchers in UK higher education. The Concordat aims to benefit the whole UK research community to improve the culture and environment in which research is conducted, to benefit both those conducting and managing research and the quality of the research itself.
Technician Commitment
The Technician Commitment is a university and research institution initiative, led by a steering board of sector bodies, hosted within the UK Institute for Technical Skills and Strategy. The commitment aims to ensure visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability for technicians working in higher education and research, across all disciplines.
IT Services
IT Services offer training sessions on a range of subjects throughout the year. All sessions are open to LJMU staff.
Academic Registry
Registry Services is a front facing support team responsible for delivering professional services to students, university staff and external agencies. Registry Services are the ‘guardians’ of the student record and the team is responsible in liaison with Faculties for policy, process and operational delivery for the range of administrative processes that underpin the student journey. The team offer a range of training sessions aimed at both academic and administrative staff.
Web Content Team
The Web Content Team manages the LJMU website and champions the user as well as representing LJMU and our colleagues. If you wish to contribute to the LJMU website with updated or new content, you will need to familiarise yourself with our guidance. All our guides explain why we need to make our content accessible to everyone. There are also many resources including tools, opportunities to understand other users’ viewpoints, and a quality control checklist.
