UREC meeting submission deadlines

The deadlines below apply to applications requiring routine review by the University Research Ethics Committee (UREC).

Please note:
Applications eligible for proportionate or minimal review may be submitted at any time and do not need to follow these deadlines.

  • Friday 28 August 2026
  • Wednesday 30 September 2026
  • Wednesday 4 November 2026
  • Thursday 3 December 2026
  • Wednesday 13 January 2027
  • Wednesday 10 February 2027
  • Tuesday 9 March 2027
  • Wednesday 14 April 2027
  • Wednesday 12 May 2027
  • Thursday 10 June 2027
  • Monday 5 July 2027

Please note:
UREC meetings are typically scheduled 11 working days after the submission deadline.

After submission: what to expect

  • Initial screening: The UREC Chair may provide feedback shortly after submission.
  • Resubmission window: Applicants should be prepared to revise and resubmit within one week of the deadline, where required.
  • Purpose: This ensures applications are complete and ready for full committee consideration.

Summer period (Late July to August)

  • No routine UREC meetings are held in August due to staff leave.
  • Applications requiring routine review will either be:
    • deferred to the next available meeting
    • considered via Chair’s action or an extraordinary meeting, where feasible
  • Applications eligible for minimal or proportionate review will continue to be processed; however, delays of up to three weeks may occur.
