EdTech mobile apps | Staff guide
These mobile apps help staff and students use Canvas, email and other tools on phones and tablets. They provide easy access to essential tools, help you to stay connected and organised. Pick an app below to learn what it does and how to use it.
Canvas Mobile Web
Canvas works in your phone browser. Open your browser and go to canvas.ljmu.ac.uk. Canvas is fully responsive and works effectively on any screen size.

Canvas Teacher app
The Canvas Teacher app helps teachers work on the go:
- Grade assignments and give feedback
- Participate in course discussions and reply to student messages
- Publish or change assignments and due dates
- Send course announcements

- See to‑do items and schedules
- Submit coursework and view grades
- Upload files, audio and video

Panopto lets you record, watch and share videos on your phone or tablet. It shows captions and some videos can be downloaded for offline viewing.

Email App
ActiveSync (also called Microsoft Exchange or Exchange ActiveSync Server) is the service that keeps your LJMU email, calendar and contacts in sync on phones and tablets. LJMU provides this free for all staff and student. See Help with IT for help.
