About EdTech
The Teaching and Learning Academy helps and supports you to use learning tools like Canvas and Panopto. We want staff and students at LJMU to have the best digital learning experience.
We work with you to develop tools that help you and your students. Some tools we have made are Private Journal and My Canvas Admin. These tools help you manage your teaching space.
If you need help with Canvas and cannot find what you need, you can get help any time. Log in to Canvas and click Canvas Help.
Who we are
The Teaching and Learning Academy support staff and students with Canvas and other learning tools. We can:
- Answer questions about Canvas
- Provide training
- Join faculty drop-ins

Canvas updates
Canvas gets updates often—three times each month. Most updates fix problems you cannot see. Sometimes new features are added. We test updates to make sure Canvas works well. We share important changes with staff and students.
There are two types of updates:
Deploy updates
- Happen every other Wednesday evening
- Small changes and fixes
- At least two each month
Canvas releases
- Add new features or tools
- Some are small, like better file viewing
- Some are big, like the new Rich Content Editor
- Happen once a month, on the third Saturday
