The Turnitin Framework tool allows you to link seamlessly to Turnitin from Canvas.

This method offers improved reliability since work is accessible in the core system (Canvas) even if Turnitin is unavailable.

• Tutors can therefore continue to mark submissions
• Students can access their feedback and marks during unscheduled periods of Turnitin downtime
• Grading is done in SpeedGrader, not inside Turnitin’s Feedback Studio.  

• Turnitin initially runs an originality report against external sources when a student submits before the due date
• It does not match against other students' submissions within the assignment
• Once the due date is reached a secondary analysis is performed. If the similarity score updates after the similarity check on the due date, the new score is not sent to Canvas.
• This checks for matches within the assignment folder between other student submissions for evidence of collusion
• The overall matches are then added to the report
