Lucinda is a Reader in Victorian History at LJMU and an EDI Caucus Equity Champion. Her research explores the role of home, gender and class in the British university and social settlement movement. She is a nationally recognised teaching practitioner, and regularly advises humanities departments on working with and for disabled and neurodivergent staff and students. Lucinda established the Disabled Researchers’ Network Project to address systemic barriers in research culture and to create a connected and supportive community for disabled researchers at LJMU. She has blogged about her experiences as a dyslexic and dyspraxic researcher.

Dr Ria Cheyne

Ria is a researcher on the Disabled Researchers’ Network Project and PI of ‘Divergent Minds in the Archive’. Her work bridges disability studies, inclusive education, literary studies, and medical humanities, currently focusing on neurodivergent inclusion in higher education (and beyond). In 2022, she developed one of the first specialist undergraduate modules on neurodiversity in the UK, and she is one of the leads of the Neurodivergent Humanities Network. Her book on disability in contemporary genre fiction is available open access.
Research Assistant
Harriet Fuest
Harriet is a LJMU PhD student who will submit her thesis, ‘Suffering in digital landscapes: Biopolitics, Habitus and ME/CFS’, in 2025. Via the APSS PGR Professional Training Scheme, Harriet has provided research assistance on the Disabled Researchers Network Project, including designing the Disabled Researchers’ Hub logo, developing website content, and undertaking a literature review on chronic illness and the research process.
Advisory Board
From 2023 to 2025 the Disabled Researchers’ Network Project was supported by a rotating Advisory Board of 30 LJMU staff and postgraduate research students.
