Windows 11 update

Windows 11 is the latest major version of Windows, released by Microsoft as the successor to Windows 10.

Windows 11 updates are being rolled out across the university and staff need to ensure they have upgraded by 31 August 2025.

Failure to upgrade will result in being locked out of LJMU systems. This includes email, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Teams.

IT Services (ITS) will be implementing a phased programme from April 2025 to 31 August 2025. This will ensure all staff are upgraded to the latest system.

As per LJMU’s one device policy, staff using outdated hardware which is incompatible with the upgrade will be provided with the new standard of a managed laptop with docking station. This will allow staff to work flexibly across the campus and from home.
