Jane Cooke Wright (1919-2013)

• Wright followed in her father’s steps of becoming a physician, graduating from New York Medical College in 1945.
• She was the first to report use of nitrogen mustard agents, folic acid agonists, and methotrexate as cancer treatments.
• She introduced sequential and dose variations to improve chemotherapy and reduce side effects.
• She was one of the seven (and only female) physicians co-founders of the American Society of Clinical Oncology in 1964.
• Wright was appointed to the National Cancer Advisory Board by President Johnson.
