Why should my daughter/son go to university?

My daughter/son isn't sure what to study, do you have any advice?
Going to university is an investment of time, hard work and finances, so choosing a subject that your son or daughter will not only enjoy, but also has the greatest potential to lead them towards a successful career is key.

How will they finance their education?

How do they apply?
Applications for all full-time undergraduate programmes must be submitted via the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). Applicants can search courses on the UCAS website and find detailed information on how to apply to university.

What support do LJMU offer to their students?
We have a dedicated Student Advice and Wellbeing Services team on hand to help students through university. Whether it’s help with studying, money concerns, or health and wellbeing – you’ll find all you need to know from our student support section.
My daughter/son will be living in student accommodation. What sort of accommodation is on offer?

How can I be sure my daughter/son is safe and secure while at university?
Liverpool is one of the safest student cities in the UK and LJMU is a very safe environment. To alleviate any concerns you might have about your daughter/son being away at university, take a look at our health and wellbeing section.
Are they likely to get a career at the end of their degree?
LJMU places a great deal of importance on employability. A strong emphasis on active learning and practical training is embedded into our programmes. Not only will students have the opportunity to take part in work experience to further their professional development and prepare them for the world of work, but they will have extensive hands-on experience within our state-of-the-art facilities. Students will gain insight from expert lecturers, guest speakers, field trips and much more.

Why should they study in Liverpool?
As one of the safest cities in the UK, Liverpool attracts students from far and wide. In terms of culture, it boasts more museums and galleries than any other city outside of London and is host to a range of exciting events throughout the year. Our students get to experience the creative atmosphere of the city thanks to our partnerships with the big names in arts and culture; they can discover and appreciate music, art and theatre for free or at discounted prices.
Liverpool is a great city for eating out with a huge range of restaurants and cafés to suit every taste and budget. With shopping, theatres, parks, attractions and activities all within easy reach, the city is a fantastic student destination, not to mention an excellent place to visit when you drop by to see your son or daughter.
No matter where you live in the UK, Liverpool is very easy to get to whether you're travelling by train, car or plane (it's just over two hours by train to London and only 30 minutes by plane from Northern Ireland).

What are the facilities like at LJMU?
