Judith S Stern (1943-2019)

• Stern completed her BSc Food and Nutrition at Cornell University, New York, followed by her MSc and DSc in Nutrition at Harvard. 
• She was one of the founding members of the North American Association for the Study of Obesity (NAASO) and a pioneer into bariatric research. 
• Stern was appointed as President of the American Society of Clinical Nutrition and carried out important research in obesity, cited today and laying the foundation for future research. 
• She was pivotal in raising interest in obesity as an urgent public health issue, deserving of medical treatment, political advocacy and research.
