Margaret Norse Nice (1883-1974)

• Nice was an American ornithologist, ethologist, and child psychologist.
• She graduated from Mount Holyoke College, Massachusetts, in 1906 and, during the same year, began her Master's degree in Zoology at Clark University, in the same state.
• She is best known for her extensive study of song sparrows and her field studies of birds in North America.
• By publishing her finding in a two-volume book: 'Studies in the Life History of the Song Sparrow', Nice earned herself the Brewster Medal from the American Ornithologists’ Union in 1942.
• Through close observations of her five daughters, she acquired enough information about child psychology to publish 18 articles on the topic.
