National Trust Volunteering Day

Come along and carry out practical work to protect and improve the rare sand dune and woodland environment at Formby.

Hosted by LJMU Environmental Sustainability and Energy Team, come along to a volunteering day at National Trust site in Formby! We will be joining the National Trust ranger team, conducting important practical conservation and access work to protect and improve the rare sand dune and woodland environment at Formby.

This is a great opportunity to meet the area ranger and spend time with someone working on the front line of our biodiversity and climate crises, while getting stuck in and making a practical contribution to local conservation efforts. The area ranger will be happy to answer any questions about their work and how they got into the sector.

Tasks we’ll be completing are part of the vital work the National Trust carry out, examples include scrub control, path maintenance and resurfacing, and dune slack maintenance. All training for any task we do will be provided on the day!

When? Monday 19th October

Where? Meet at Liverpool Central Station at 8.20am

How will we get there? We will pay for your return train fare from Liverpool Central to Freshfields station. It’s then a 15 minute walk to the National Trust site.

How long will it last? We’ll be volunteering from 9.30am to 3.30pm, you’ll likely get back to the city centre by 4.30pm.

What do I need to bring? All tools and PPE will be provided. Please bring a water bottle and packed lunch and any snacks you require.

What should I wear? The session will go ahead in almost all weather so please be prepared. If its cold, please wear plenty of layers, a waterproof, and appropriate footwear e.g. trainers or walking boots. If its sunny, please bring suncream if required.
