Kasper Schmeichel talk marks 20 years of Science and Football at LJMU

“Love what you do and bring your energy to whatever field you’re working on. Be yourself and enjoy what you’re doing.”

This was Leicester City and Danish international goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel's message to LJMU students when he recently visited undergraduate and postgraduate students from the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences.

Kasper was invited to talk to students as part of the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of the School’s Science and Football BSc (Hons) programme. He talked through the stages of his football career – covering the early years playing for lower league clubs through to his current position with Premiership team Leicester City. He described winning the Premier League with Leicester City as the highlight of his career so far and talked in depth about how he uses the principles of sport psychology to keep him focused.

During the Q&A session, Kasper answered questions from current students from the School on a range of topics and met with them afterwards to pose for pictures.

Martin Littlewood, Head of LJMU’s Football Exchange, said: “We are delighted that Kasper took the time to come here today to talk with our students. The feedback from the event has been fantastic and the students and staff were excited to have the chance to hear about his career and ask him questions relevant to their studies at LJMU.”
