Events and support for disabled and neurodivergent students



Are you disabled, neurodivergent or do you have a long-term health condition?

Disability History Month begins this week (16 November- 16 December) and LJMU has a range of events, careers advice sessions and support available for students.

Your future career 

Student Futures has a range of drop ins where you can access support and resources as well as two virtual events featuring speakers from a range of organisations who will share tips on navigating the recruitment process and employment with a disability or health condition.

Employability drop-in

Wednesday 16 November/ 7 December, 12:30-2:30pm, Careers Zone, Student Life Building

Employability drop-in for students with a disability, health condition or those who are neurodivergent. Come along at any time between 12.30-2.30pm to chat informally to members of our friendly and approachable team, find out about employability support available and have a look at online resources which have been co-created by disabled and neurodivergent students at LJMU. 

Virtual event: 'Talking about Disability – The Employer Perspective'

Tuesday 22 November, 4-5:30pm, online

Ever wondered what the employer side of the conversation is when they are talking to people with disabilities (or those with a health condition/those who are neurodivergent?). Come to this virtual panel event with employers from the private, public and charity sectors to find out more about their perspectives and to ask your own questions too, if you would like to.

Virtual event: 'Disability and Employability' event for LJMU students  

Wednesday 30 November, 1:30-3:30pm, online 

Virtual event which will include inspirational speakers talking about their own experiences of disability and success in the workplace, plus advice and tips on:

  • identifying disability-friendly employers
  • sharing information about your disability (or health condition, or that you are neurodivergent) with employers
  • your legal rights at work

LJMU International Day of Persons with a Disability 2022 Event

Friday 2 December, 10am – 12:00pm, UG 17/JMSU space, Student Life Building

Come along to the LJMU International Day of Persons with a Disability 2022 event this December. The event will hosted by LJMU’s Disabled Staff Network and is open to all students and staff.

Student and staff speakers will share their perspective on being neurodivergent/disabled within LJMU and beyond.
