Come along to the 'Reverse Big Ideas' event on Policing, Criminalisation and Community

Staff, students and the public are invited to the LJMU Faculty of Arts, Professional and Social Studies' latest ‘Reverse Big Ideas’ event.  

The event will take place on Thursday 16 May 2024, from 5.30pm to 8pm in LJMU’s Education Building. 

‘Reverse Big Ideas’ is an evening of thought-provoking talks delivered by leading academics and partners working in policing, community and criminal justice.  

The event is part of a wider programme of LJMU engagement activities open to the public showcasing some of the latest research being undertaken. Guests will have an opportunity to hear from our speakers and join them in discussion along the theme of ‘Policing, Criminalisation and Community’. 

‘Reverse Big Ideas’ guest speakers will include: 

  • Lorna Brookes – Founder of Time Matters UK 

  • Constable Adam Glinister – Merseyside Police 

  • Miriam Mussa – Head of Community Engagement, Royal Court Theatre 

  • Emma Murray & Lucia Arias, LJMU/FACT 

  • Rachel Worsley – Company Founder and Creative Director, No Place Productions 

Tickets for the event are free and can be booked via Reverse Big Ideas Eventbrite. 

What is ‘Reverse Big Ideas’? 

Big Ideas is part of an annual programme of research and engagement activities at LJMU that allows the university to share collaboration and knowledge exchange with its local communities. 

‘Reverse Big Ideas’ flips the script with community groups and speakers taking the lead in sharing how their interaction with LJMU’s teaching and research is enhancing community partnerships.  

These research and engagement opportunities allow our communities to: 

  • Share exciting research in the Liverpool City Region 

  • Meet and chat with staff and student researchers 

  • Network with guests including culture, arts and community groups, businesses, local government and education representatives
