In memoriam: Maggi Toft

We are sad to announce that Maggi Toft from our School of Engineering has died.

This has come as a huge shock to Maggi’s family, friends and colleagues.

Maggi joined the school in September 2019 and made an immediate impact. She brought with her a passion for education, an empathy for the student experience and a keen sense of how to make things better.

Many of our graduates and PGR students studied under Maggi's guidance, either on our own foundation or through the Access to Engineering provision that she led at City of Liverpool College before she joined us. This is an enduring testament to the impact that she has had on engineering education in the city.

Maggi was loved by students and colleagues alike and will be dearly missed.

Funeral arrangements

Colleagues are very welcome to join us on Wednesday 14 May to celebrate Maggi’s life.

The service will be held at 12.30pm at the Springwood Crematorium, Springwood Ave, Allerton, Liverpool, L25 7UN.

Maggi was a positive person, bright and always smiling so we ask that you wear your brightest and most colourful outfits in her honour.

We appreciate that many of you want to buy flowers to show your support in this difficult time. However, instead please consider a donation in her name to either The Women’s Rights Fund, Oxfam or Stemettes - Women in Science.
