Understanding university subsidies

LJMU has developed a new Subsidy Control Policy to ensure all staff are sufficiently equipped to identify potential subsidies received or granted by the university.

If receiving a subsidy, this is likely to take the form of receiving a notice referring to ‘subsidy’ or ‘minimum financial assistance’.

Following approval, a new Subsidy Control Policy has been added to the policy centre. This policy explains what is regarded as a subsidy and what procedures should be followed in situations where a subsidy arises.

The university’s legal team has also produced a video which sets out the key characteristics of a subsidy and what to do if you come across them.

Accessing LJMU policies

Policies can be accessed via the LJMU Policy Centre.
