Updated Human Resources Policy

A new Personal Intimate Relationships policy has been consulted on and approved by ELT. All staff will be required to read the policy and understand where their role fits into the working definitions within that policy.

For staff deemed to be in relevant posts, new intimate relationships with students are banned from 1 August 2025. Staff already in a relationship on the 1 August 2025 have until the 31 October to declare any relationships that were formed prior to this date.

The university also strongly discourages any non-relevant staff member entering into an intimate personal relationship with a student, although it is not prohibited. If non-relevant staff members enter into an intimate personal relationship with a student, they must declare this. Further information will be shared with staff on how to declare these relationships.

Policies can be accessed via the LJMU Policy Centre. If you have any issues accessing the policies, please do not hesitate to contact policies@ljmu.ac.uk for further support.
