Free winter flu jab for staff

As part of our employee wellbeing focus, we are again offering staff an e-voucher for a free winter flu jab.

All you need to do is complete our online form to request your e-voucher, make an appointment with your nearest participating Boots Pharmacy and present the e-voucher when you go for your vaccination.

Please note: The university has purchased 300 e-vouchers, which will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. As this is at a cost to the university, you should only request an e-voucher if you are not already eligible for a free flu jab through the NHS and intend to redeem the e-voucher.

If you are over 65, have long-term health conditions, or are pregnant, you may be eligible for a free flu jab through the NHS. Please check the criteria in advance on the NHS website.

If you have any queries, please email Liz Cousins.

What is flu?

Seasonal flu is a viral illness spread through coughing, sneezing or by touching contaminated surfaces. Most flu outbreaks usually happen in late autumn or winter, and while no vaccine is 100% effective, being vaccinated is likely to give you effective protection against the strains of flu virus contained in the vaccination. Following the vaccination, it normally takes between 14 and 21 days to be protected against flu, so it is advised to book early.

If you want to stay healthy and prevent the spread of flu among family, friends and colleagues, taking advantage of the winter flu jab is a good first step.
