Renewal of major publisher agreements

We are delighted to share that LJMU Library has renewed its agreements with all five major academic publishers—Elsevier, Sage, Springer Nature, Taylor & Francis, and Wiley - following the successful national negotiations led by Jisc in 2025.

These agreements are vital to supporting our teaching, learning and research. They provide our staff and students with access to high‑quality academic journals, ensuring that our community can continue to engage with the latest scholarship across a wide range of disciplines.

A key benefit of these renewed agreements is the continuation of Open Access (OA) publishing routes for our authors. This means eligible authors at LJMU can publish openly (in eligible journals) with these publishers without paying an article processing charge, helping to increase the visibility and impact of their work.

Maintaining sustainable and affordable access to academic content is essential. The outcomes of the Jisc negotiations met the sector’s agreed thresholds for value, ensuring we can continue to support learning, teaching and research effectively.
