Black Experience Guide launched
This Black History Month, we are excited to launch the Black Experience Guide, the first in a series of staff and student co-created guides designed to reflect and celebrate the diversity of LJMU, while providing bespoke support from authentic lived experiences.
This guide brings together insights, experiences, and recommendations from Black students and staff. It offers tailored suggestions about places to eat and shop, for hair and beauty services, for nightlife, university societies, groups and LJMU support services, as well as community organisations and networks across Liverpool.
The guide aims to reduce barriers linked to unfamiliarity and help students feel more connected, supported, and confident in their environment. It’s also a great resource for everyone to increase their understanding of different cultures, identities, and communities.
Read the guide and lookout for some YouTube shorts videos included throughout which have been filmed and edited by our students.
Get involved with developing our future guides
This collection of guides will continue to grow, with additional guides developed in partnership with students and staff from a range of communities and backgrounds.
If you have an idea for a future guide, or would be interested in helping to create one for your community, we'd love to hear from you. Please email the Access and Participation inbox.
Other guides we are creating
Neurodivergent Guide and Northern Irish and Irish Guide.
