Could your team offer a work experience placement to a Merseyside pupil?

We're looking for staff to support our annual Work Experience Programme. The programme, delivered by the Diversity and Inclusion team, in partnership with the Outreach team, offers young people from LJMU partner schools in the Liverpool City Region a unique opportunity to experience working life at LJMU. To make this possible, we’re looking for expressions of interest from staff who are willing to share their time, expertise, and experience by offering a work experience placement.

What would offering a placement involve?

The 2026 placement can be offered any time between now and the end of the academic year (31 August 2026) and will be offered to Year 10/Year 12 pupils ranging from 14 to 17 years old.

Placements will be undertaken for one week and we welcome participation from all areas across the university, both academic and Professional Services teams.

Why participate in the Diversity and Inclusion Work Experience Programme?

This is an opportunity to empower a young person to explore diverse career paths within LJMU and show your department’s impact. Work experience provides invaluable insights to support young people in exploring future career options and develop new skills in a particular field or profession. Learn more about the impact of previous work experience placements.
