Sector-leading initiatives as LJMU strives to be most inclusive university in the UK

Sector-leading initiatives and exceptional work are driving inclusivity forward at LJMU at both departmental and individual levels.

A new Best Practice Diversity and Inclusion Guide launched by LJMU’s Diversity and Inclusion team is illustrating and reinforcing LJMU’s commitment to creating an inclusive environment for all students, staff and community partners, with best practice and key highlights of the work achieved over the past five years across our two faculties and Professional Services, aligning with LJMU’s vision to be the most inclusive university in the UK .

The guide is designed to showcase the breadth of approaches our colleagues and students have adopted to embed diversity and inclusion across LJMU and covers a range of themes including supporting women’s leadership development; using student co-creation to explore intersectionality, and ground-breaking approaches to increase cultural awareness.

At LJMU, our students, staff and wider community are at the heart of our mission to be the most inclusive university in the UK.

Moni Akinsanya, Associate Director: Diversity and Inclusion, said:

“At LJMU, our students, staff and wider community are at the heart of our mission to be the most inclusive university in the UK. The guide reflects the commitment, creativity and care shown by colleagues across the institution in embedding inclusive practice in meaningful ways.

“The examples of best practice we hope will inspire everyone to consider how we can all support this commitment through our individual contributions; by participating in wider institutional activities, or leading the way in developing new and innovative approaches to addressing inequality.”
