'Claim Your Data' campaign
LJMU's Open Research team is launching a 'Claim Your Data' campaign this summer, encouraging researchers across all faculties to ensure their research datasets are visible, citable, and linked to their institutional profile.
Research data is a valuable output in its own right, but many LJMU researchers are missing out on recognition for their data simply because it has not been deposited in a repository or linked to their Symplectic profile. This means that downloads, views, and citations go unrecorded, making it harder for LJMU to demonstrate the full breadth of its research impact.
The campaign is simple: if you have collected data as part of your research, whether through surveys, interviews, experiments, or any other method, we want to help you make it visible, where possible.
Here is what you can do:
- Visit your Symplectic profile and check whether your datasets are listed
- If you have already deposited data in a repository such as Zenodo, Figshare, or the LJMU Data Repository, link it to your profile. Instructions on how to do this can be found on the Library webpage FAQs
- If your data has not yet been deposited, Amie Longthorne can provide support and guidance
Not all data can be shared openly and that is completely fine. If your data involves sensitive information or is restricted due to ethical or commercial reasons, we can help you add a data availability statement to your publications instead.
