Leading barrister to become honorary fellow

LJMU is delighted to announce that barrister Sam Hillas KC, Leader of the Northern Circuit, will be conferred as an honorary fellow this summer.

A graduate from the University of Hull, Sam specialises in family law with a particular emphasis on financial remedy claims. She is also a bencher of Inner Temple.

Sam is also actively engaged in the world of rugby, having played for a number of years (Saracens, New Brighton and Birkenhead Park) and now sits as a judicial officer for RFU, Six Nations and World Rugby.

As an honorary fellow, Sam will be such an important role model for our students, not just in our law school but for the university more broadly.  I’m delighted that she will be joining our extended LJMU community and that we are able to recognise her outstanding contributions to the law and beyond.

Professor Mark Power, LJMU Vice-Chancellor

Sam's honorary fellowship will be conferred during the graduation ceremony for law students in July.
