Staff Survey results 2026 show LJMU is a positive place to work
The latest ‘Your LJMU, Your Voice’ staff survey results highlight that LJMU remains a great place to work with continuous improvements across a range of areas since last year’s results.
This year, the staff survey also saw its highest level of engagement increasing to 83% (which is 8% above the sector average).
Positive feedback
Staff responded particularly positively to questions about recommending LJMU as a good place to study or work, good relationships with colleagues, believing the university behaves in an environmental responsible way and caring about the future of the university.
Confidence in the Executive Leadership Team to manage and lead the university well was also 13% above the Higher Education sector norm.
Areas for improvement
Themes that require improvement were questions relating to line management support and expectations, reward and recognition, leadership, and fair and equal treatment, particularly around career progression.

All staff will receive an email this week from People Insight with access to the ‘Your LJMU Your Voice’ staff survey dashboard so that you can view the results from your team’s area.
Action to be taken by the university
Over the coming weeks, both the Executive Leadership Team and University Leadership Team colleagues will reflect on and review the results in their areas, and with their LJMU teams, to develop actions for 2026/27. All staff will be asked to feed into these discussions.
There will also be an ELT workshop to develop university-wide impactful actions to improve the employee experience.
