LJMU forges stronger links in Asia
LJMU Internation is reporting our growing influence on the world stage after a trio of successes in Malaysia.
LJMU has been selected to participate in a UK–Malaysia Mission in October, lead a session at APAIE – the largest international education conference in the Asia-Pacific region - in Kuala Lumpur in March, and has won re-election as Secretariat of the UK–Malaysia University Consortium.
All three successes strengthen our global profile, attract new partnerships and funding and built our portfolio in Transnational Education.
The Mission in October takes place in Kuala Lumpur and Johor is led by Associate PVC for international Relations Dr Julia Wang with assistance from Professor Rebecca Murphy and Dr Frances Tracy.
Global workforce development
Julia (pictured) said: “This is a very exciting and strategically important opportunity, particularly given its focus on industry-aligned micro-credentials, workforce development, and innovative models of transnational education.”

APAIE 2027 is the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education conference where Julia and her team will present jointly with Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdulla on Higher Education Leadership in an Era of Radical Uncertainty.
This presents a wonderful opportunity to maximise the visibility and engagement of both LJMU and the Malaysia Consortium with a significant international audience. During the conference week, Julia and her team will also organise a joint UK–China (Jiangsu) Consortium and UK–Malaysia Consortium Alumni Symposium as part of a move to establish a trilateral partnership between the UK, Malaysia, and China, with support of the British Council.
Added Dr Wang: “Taken together, these achievements give us a host of opportunities to influence policy, strengthen our global profile, attract new partnerships and funding, and demonstrate the positive difference that international collaboration can make, even during a period of considerable global uncertainty.”
