Free winter flu jab for staff

As part of our employee wellbeing focus, we are again offering staff an e-voucher for a free winter flu jab.

All you need to do is request an e-voucher, make an appointment with your nearest participating Boots Pharmacy and present the e-voucher when you go for your vaccination.

Please note: The university has purchased 300 e-vouchers, which will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. As this initiative is funded by the university, staff should only request an e-voucher if they are not already eligible for a free NHS flu vaccination and intend to redeem the voucher.

If you are aged 65 or over, have a long-term health condition, or are pregnant, you may already be eligible for a free flu vaccination through the NHS. Please check your eligibility on the NHS website before requesting an e-voucher.

What is flu?

Seasonal flu is a viral illness that spreads through coughing, sneezing, or contact with contaminated surfaces. Most outbreaks occur during late autumn and winter.

Although no vaccine provides 100% protection, the flu vaccination offers effective protection against the strains of flu virus included in that year's vaccine. It usually takes 14 to 21 days after vaccination for immunity to develop, so staff are encouraged to book their appointment early.

Getting vaccinated is one of the best ways to protect yourself and help prevent the spread of flu among family, friends, colleagues, and the wider community.
