Membership details: Independent Member
Member of:
Board of Governors
Finance Committee
Amos is Professor of Pharmacology and Neuroscience within the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences at LJMU, as well as Deputy Head (Communications and Reporting) and Pharmacology Lead of the Centre for Natural Products Discovery.
Having previously worked at other institutions in the UK, US, Australia and Nigeria, Amos brings to the Board a wealth of international experience in academia, which he hopes will support the Board’s roles in fulfilling LJMU’s internationalisation agenda. His experiential knowledge of the impact of socio-cultural backgrounds and related factors on student experience will be useful in identifying and implementing initiatives towards LJMU continually offering equitable and inclusive support to both home and international students.
Amos’ collaborative research in drug discovery science (therapeutics development) has led to the acquisition of a patent, so he also brings experience of research innovation and translation.
In addition, as a pharmacist and researcher in medical research, he is able and willing to contribute to exploring strategies to further promote health and well-being amongst students and staff.
He looks forward to working with other members of the Board and learning from their wealth of experience in governance and leadership of various sectors of society.
