Brian is an economics graduate from Liverpool University and a chartered accountant. He spent 18 years with KPMG and is now a partner in Mitchell Charlesworth where he leads the Corporate Finance Practice, MC Vanguard Corporate Finance.

Brian has worked alongside Directors of privately owned businesses on a wide range of issues. These include strategic direction, profit improvement and financial management. His primary focus is now working with the owners of SMEs who are looking to sell their business, acquire an additional business, or to raise finance.

A large part of his career has been spent in Merseyside. In 1996, he initiated the Merseyside Innovation Awards to foster the successful exploitation of innovation among Merseyside companies. The Awards are now in their 16th year and are supported by over a dozen of Merseyside's key professional firms and agencies.

Brian is also a Director of Liverpool Chamber of Commerce and Merseyside Special Investment Fund Limited.

He is married with four children, two of whom are LJMU graduates.
