Important Turnitin Rules
This is an important message to all staff about using Turnitin correctly.
Turnitin is a computer program that checks if student work matches other sources, like websites, books, or other students' assignments.
Why does this matter?
Once work is uploaded to Turnitin, it may not be deleted. This means tutors must set everything up properly from the start.
If Turnitin is set up wrong, it can cause problems for students and staff later.
What must staff do?
All tutors using Turnitin must:
- Follow the setup rules carefully
- Tell students about how Turnitin works
- Never upload work on behalf of someone else
- Set up assignments correctly in Canvas
Getting help
LJMU's Teaching and Learning Academy has created a guide to help staff use Turnitin properly. Staff can also attend training sessions to learn more.
The rules apply to everyone at LJMU and partner institutions who use Turnitin.
